Anorexia Nervosa is the least common of all eating disorders, occurring in approximately 1% of the population. It is a potentially life-threatening eating disorder which is characterized by self-starvation, excessive weight loss, and negative body image. Some people with anorexia lose weight by dieting and exercising excessively; others lose weight by self-induced vomiting, or misusing laxatives or diet pills. Anorexia has the highest fatality rate among all mental health disorders.
